Moby Plays the Flute releases this September.
[Dallas, Texas] Dallas author, Eeha Bhatt, releases her first children’s book this fall with Tabletop Publishing. Moby Plays the Flute is a new children’s book that helps kids learn the importance of perseverance, patience, and the gratifying feeling of hard-earned success. This is a must-read for kids and parents alike, featuring a touching relationship between Moby and her father, a deployed U.S. Marine.
Moby Plays the Flute reinforces that you must work hard to succeed and not always expect instant gratification. As Moby struggles with her military father’s time away, she falls into her usual pattern of quitting. However, with a special gift from her dad and enough time, she can find a new passion that finally motivates her to work hard, have patience, and reap the benefits of her labor. This lesson cannot be taught enough and is something we all struggle with sometimes.
"Effort comes from strong determination, having a goal, and putting in hard work... All of this is ignited by believing in yourself! And now Moby knows, and she believes." passage from Moby Plays the Flute.
Reviews:
This is the wonderful, heartwarming tale of a father and daughter who learn that even though life may be difficult and not always what you want, persistence and patience always pay off. Moby is disheartened when her dad, a Marine, is called away on duty and won't be back for her birthday. He gives her an early birthday present before he leaves, a bamboo flute. Moby struggles to learn how to play and is quickly discouraged. But she perseveres and soon learns that with practice and patience, she can do anything she puts her mind to. I love the life lessons Eeha Bhatt incorporates into their story. While this story is obviously geared towards small children, I've often used picture books with my high school students and this will be one I will definitely incorporate. I love the story and the illustrations are amazing. I've also read this story to my 6-year old and she loved the story and the pictures.

Moby Plays the Flute is a gorgeous picture book. I love the illustration style, with loads of fun details meaning you can spend ages totally absorbed in exploring the pictures. The story is positive and will speak to children and adults alike.
I was drawn to this book as a music teacher - I love stories about music. This doesn’t disappoint, and I think it would be a great book to read with a child who is starting to learn an instrument to help them to prepare for the patience and perseverance they will need, and get excited about learning and playing their instrument!
This is also a good book to read with a child when a parent has to go away for a long time. Moby misses her dad, and he misses her but he’s still there for her even when he’s far away.
This book gets five stars from me! A wonderfully enjoyable book to read, and a good way to explore the importance of persevering when learning something new!
